
The Embassy of Japan in Zimbabwe will host a Japanese Film Festival in Harare as part of efforts to deepen cultural understanding and strengthen relations between Japan and Zimbabwe. The event is scheduled for Saturday, 28 March 2026, from 11:00 AM to 4:00 PM at Alliance Française de Harare.
The festival reflects Japan’s commitment to cultural diplomacy, using film and shared cultural experiences to promote dialogue and friendship with Zimbabwean audiences.
Such cultural events play an important role in building people-to-people connections and fostering appreciation of Japan’s artistic and social narratives.

Guests will have the opportunity to watch three Japanese films: Magic Candies, Bushido Sixteen, and BL Metamorphosis. The films highlight different aspects of Japanese storytelling, ranging from animated creativity suitable for all audiences to compelling live-action narratives exploring youth, discipline and human relationships.
While Magic Candies is open to audiences of all ages, the other two films are intended for viewers aged 12 years and above.
In addition to the film screenings, participants will also experience elements of Japanese hospitality, including traditional food and green tea, further enriching the cultural exchange.
Through initiatives such as the Japanese Film Festival, the Embassy of Japan continues to promote mutual understanding between the Japanese and Zimbabwean peoples.
The event highlights the role of arts and cultural exchange in strengthening international partnerships and fostering cultural diplomacy.
