HEXA Introduces Educational Travel Experiences for Schools

Heritage Expeditions Africa (HEXA) has unveiled a series of educational travel programmes designed to transform traditional school trips into immersive learning experiences that combine exploration, heritage and adventure.

The initiative introduces structured educational tours that allow students to explore Zimbabwe’s natural, cultural and historical landmarks while reinforcing classroom learning through practical engagement.

The programmes are structured as multi-day travel experiences where students visit heritage sites, national monuments, wildlife areas and significant cultural destinations across the country.

According to HEXA, the packages aim to move learning beyond textbooks by turning destinations into “living classrooms” where students can develop critical thinking, teamwork and experiential understanding of history, geography and conservation.

The itineraries cover several key destinations including Harare, Victoria Falls, Lake Kariba, Bulawayo, Nyanga and Masvingo. Students visiting the capital can tour historical landmarks such as National Heroes Acre and the National Museum of Zimbabwe, while trips to Victoria Falls include experiences around the iconic Victoria Falls as well as environmental and wildlife excursions.

Other programmes offer visits to important heritage and conservation sites such as Khami Ruins, Matobo National Park and the world-renowned Great Zimbabwe, giving students firsthand exposure to Zimbabwe’s archaeological and cultural heritage.

Heritage Expeditions Africa says the tours are carefully organised to ensure safety and educational value, with structured transport, guided activities, accommodation and meal arrangements included to create a seamless travel experience for schools.

“School trips should be more than excursions; they should be signature learning experiences that inspire curiosity and discovery,” the company said. “Our programmes are designed to immerse students in Zimbabwe’s heritage while supporting curriculum objectives and creating memories that last well beyond the classroom.”

The company added that the educational tours are intended to help schools provide meaningful travel opportunities that expose students to the country’s landscapes, culture and history while maintaining a safe and well-coordinated environment.

Heritage Expeditions Africa operates under the umbrella of Rainbow Tourism Group and specialises in heritage travel, adventure activities, educational tours and corporate excursions across Zimbabwe as well as Southern and East Africa.
