Chiredzi boy, 9, killed by motor cycle

A nine-year-old boy from Bhisani Village, Chief Mupapa in Chiredzi was hit and killed by a motor cyclist while trying to drive donkeys out of the way.

The incident happened around 3pm on Sunday along the Malisanga-Chiteya Road. 

Masvingo provincial police spokesperson Inspector Kudakwashe Dhewa confirmed the incident, said Kupakwashe Mulela was hit by a motorcycle which was being ridden by Peter Manjengwa, 44, who resides at Mutirikwi, Triangle.

Manjengwa was riding his motorcycle due south and Kupakwashe was leading a donkey drawn plough heading in the same direction.

Manjengwa tried to overtake the donkey drawn plough but while he was in the process of overtaking, Kupakwashe allegedly ran to the right in an attempt to control the donkeys.

As a result, Kudakwashe was hit by the motorcycle, and he sustained serious head injuries.

He was taken to Chiredzi District Hospital where he was pronounced dead upon admission.
