A 24-year-old Bindura man has been punished after unlawfully accessing his ex-girlfriend’s social media accounts and posting an obscene audio message meant to humiliate her, in a case that highlights growing concerns over cyberbullying in Zimbabwe.
Kudakwashe Lordship Tengende logged into the 29-year-old woman’s Facebook and TikTok accounts after taking back a cellphone he had previously given her to use, without allowing her to log out of the platforms.
The incident happened on February 4, 2026, just two days after the couple separated following a misunderstanding.

Using the accounts, Tengende posted an obscene audio message that was visible to more than 3,500 of the woman’s followers. The post quickly attracted attention, with many of her followers calling to alert her about the message.
Although the woman managed to delete the recording, Tengende reposted it several times, forcing her to remove it repeatedly before the situation was finally resolved.
The matter was later reported to the police, leading to Tengende’s arrest. He admitted to the offence and was sentenced to 12 months in prison.
Four months of the sentence were suspended on condition that he does not commit a similar offence, while the remaining eight months were set aside for 280 hours of community service.
