A 26-year-old driver, Hatumwi Tinashe, has been sentenced to two years in prison following a fatal road traffic accident in Harare’s Crowborough Phase 3 that claimed the life of a minor.
On November 21, 2025, Tinashe was driving a Toyota Hiace when he struck a child who was crossing the road. The impact caused severe head injuries, and the victim was pronounced dead upon arrival at Sally Mugabe Central Hospital.

The Mbare Magistrates’ Court found Tinashe negligent, ruling that he failed to keep a proper lookout and did not take reasonable action to avoid the collision.
He pleaded guilty to culpable homicide.
