Highlanders confirm departure of Dutch Coach Pieter De Jongh

 

Highlanders have announced that Dutch coach Pieter De Jongh will leave the club when his contract expires on December 31, 2025.

De Jongh, who had expressed a desire to continue in charge, will part ways with the Bulawayo giants by mutual agreement following “constructive discussions,” the club said.

The Dutchman joined Highlanders mid-season after the dismissal of Kevin Kaindu, taking over a team in turmoil. This marked his second stint at the club.

Highlanders praised De Jongh for his “professionalism, commitment, and positive contribution,” highlighting his experience and leadership during a difficult campaign. The club narrowly avoided relegation, finishing 11th  just two points above the drop zone in one of their toughest seasons in recent years.

“Both parties part ways on good terms,” the club added, wishing De Jongh success in his future coaching career. Updates on Highlanders’ technical team for the 2026 season will be shared in due course.

Highlanders are the latest top-flight side to announce coaching changes ahead of the new season. Champions Scottland FC, Ngezi Platinum, CAPS United, and FC Platinum will also be under new management in 2026.
