
Zimbabwe’s agriculture sector has recorded steady production gains across major crops, with new figures showing strong wheat output, improved tobacco planting and continued grain support efforts.
Minister of Lands, Agriculture, Fisheries, Water and Rural Development Anxious Jongwe Masuka said current assessments confirm that national grain availability remains stable.
He said the grain stock at the Grain Marketing Board as at 17 November 2025 stood at 178,316 metric tonnes, which constitutes less than 10% of national intake.
Masuka said the Agricultural and Rural Development Authority (ARDA)strengthened grain reserves, adding ARDA has contributed 91,792 metric tonnes to the grain stocks at GMB.
Wheat production has recorded one of its strongest seasons in recent years.
Minister Masuka said a total of 640,195 metric tonnes of wheat has been harvested from 122,146 hectares, at an average yield of 5.2 metric tonnes per hectare.
He added that 47,709 metric tonnes of barley were harvested from 6,156 hectares.

He said support to farmers is ongoing, noting that the distribution of inputs is continuing.
Tobacco production has also continued to rise, with farmers expanding hectarage.
Dr. Masuka said as of 12 November 2025, a total of 35,929 hectares had been planted to tobacco, reflecting a 6% increase from the 33,970 hectares planted at the same time in 2024.
The minister confirmed that Zimbabwe maintained strong performance despite a slight dip in volume.
He said “190 million kilogrammes of tobacco valued at US$1.06 billion had been exported as at 13 November 2025, compared to the 192.2 million kilogrammes worth US$1.03 billion exported in 2024.”
The minister said preparations for the 2025/2026 summer season are ongoing under the country’s agricultural recovery and transformation plan.
