A Chipinge villager, Amon Sigauke, has been sentenced to nine years in prison after being convicted of stock theft by the Chipinge Magistrates’ Court.
The six head of cattle — comprising one bull, four cows, and one heifer — disappeared from Zimaname Village under Chief Musikavanhu on October 10, 2025.

Sigauke allegedly drove the livestock to a homestead in a neighbouring village, where he attempted to sell them.
The theft was discovered after the owner, a fellow villager, noticed the cattle were missing from the grazing area and launched a search. When efforts to locate them failed, the matter was reported to the police on October 17, 2025.
Police investigations resulted in Sigauke’s arrest, and all six cattle — valued at US$1 800 — were recovered.
Sigauke was sentenced to an effective nine-year jail term without the option of a fine.
