ZIMSEC denies paper leaks and chaos in 2025 Exams

Zimsec opens registration for June and November 2024 examinations ...

The Zimbabwe School Examinations Council has said that this year’s Ordinary and Advanced Level examinations are proceeding smoothly, with no reports of leaked papers or widespread irregularities, amid growing speculation on social media.

“ZIMSEC issues this statement to categorically reassure all candidates, parents, guardians, and the nation that the November 2025 examinations are proceeding as scheduled, with their integrity fully intact. There has been no leakage of any ZIMSEC question paper for the November 2025 examination session,” the council said.

The was to counter recent claims of wrongly labelled, missing, or unsealed examination papers which ZIMSEC called “misleading and unfounded,” saying all tests remain secure under its watch.

The body said strict, multi-layered security measures — from paper setting to final delivery — were in place and effective. While acknowledging minor logistical glitches, ZIMSEC said these were being handled through normal procedures without affecting exam credibility.

The council praised school heads, invigilators, and security officers for maintaining high professional standards, adding that any attempt to compromise the process would attract immediate disciplinary and legal consequences.

ZIMSEC is battling to restore public confidence after 2022 widespread leaks of O-Level papers led to arrests in several provinces. In 2023 a Combined Science paper was shared online before the exam date, forcing the council to nullify results at affected centers.

Those episodes prompted the adoption of a digital tracking system and closer coordination with the Zimbabwe Republic Police.

This year, however, ZIMSEC insists the system is working saying attendance has been high, conduct has been “commendably orderly,” and the November session is on track to conclude without incident.

“The council remains fully committed to preserving the credibility, fairness, and security of the Zimbabwean examination system. We will continue to monitor the process vigilantly until its conclusion,” ZIMSEC said.

ZIMSEC also urged the public to rely only on official updates and avoid spreading unverified information that could fuel unnecessary panic.
