Fastjet Zimbabwe has marked ten years of scheduled service, celebrating a milestone that cements its place among Zimbabwe’s key aviation players.

“Thank you for your unwavering trust and for flying with us over the past ten years. Here is to many more adventures together,” said Fastjet chair Farai Mutamangira in a statement.

In the decade of operations, the airline has been named Africa’s leading low cost award winner eight times.

The privately-owned airline received its air service permit in March 2015 and secured its air operator certificate in October the same year, paving the way for its inaugural flight from Harare to Victoria Falls on October 28, 2015, operated using an Airbus A319.

“Looking back over our decade in the skies, I am filled with pride and gratitude. Our journey has been defined by innovation, resilience and a relentless pursuit for excellence. From humble beginnings, with a single daily flight, we now operate up to thirty flights a day, connecting six cities across three countries,” said business CEO/country head, Donahue Cortes.

Within Zimbabwe, it connects Harare, Bulawayo, and Victoria Falls, while regionally it serves Johannesburg, Maputo, Nelspruit, and Lusaka.

The airline has also modernised its fleet, now operating several Embraer jets, known for their efficiency and comfort on short to medium-haul routes.

Its growth aligns with government efforts to upgrade airports and expand aviation infrastructure, aimed at strengthening Zimbabwe’s role as a regional air transport hub.
