ZACC Achieves 74% Conviction Rate, Recovers Assets Worth Over US$20 Million

The Zimbabwe Anti-Corruption Commission has reported a 74 percent conviction rate in corruption-related cases in 2024, along with the recovery of assets valued at over US$20 million, marking a significant milestone in the national anti-corruption drive.

The figures were presented during ZACC’s 5th Annual General Meeting held in Harare, where the Commission reviewed its performance and reaffirmed its commitment to promoting accountability and transparency across public and private sectors.

ZACC Chairperson Michael Reza said the Commission’s achievements reflect tangible progress in curbing corruption and reclaiming stolen assets.

“Our 74 percent conviction rate demonstrates that ZACC’s investigations are yielding results, and we are ensuring that proceeds of crime are returned to the State,” Reza said.

“We will continue to pursue all cases without fear or favour to safeguard public resources.”

The Commission said the recovered assets, worth over US$20 million, were forfeited to the State through ongoing asset recovery initiatives, supported by collaboration with regional and international partners.

ZACC emphasised that it will continue strengthening institutional cooperation, enhancing public awareness, and adopting digital tools to improve corruption detection and prevention.
