The experienced all rounder, who has been a mainstay in Zimbabwe’s middle order for years, is understood to have withdrawn for personal reasons, the same grounds on which he opted out of the recent World Cup Qualifiers.

The tour will begin with a one-off Test match scheduled from 20 to 24 October 2025. Following the Test, the teams will face off in a three-match T20 International series on 29 October, 31 October, and 2 November 2025.

Zimbabwe will head into the series with fond memories of their historic triumph over Afghanistan in 2021, when they dismantled the hosts in just two days at the Sheikh Zayed Cricket Stadium in Abu Dhabi. On that occasion, Afghanistan were bundled out for 131 and 135 in their two innings, while Zimbabwe cruised to victory at 17 without loss in their second innings after posting 250 in the first.
