
The Ministry of Industry and Commerce presented a positive review of its first and second-quarter budget performance to the Parliamentary Portfolio Committee on Industry and Commerce, signaling strong collaboration aimed at accelerating the nation’s industrialization drive.

The Permanent Secretary, Dr. Thomas Wushe, led the Ministry's delegation, addressing key areas of fiscal management and policy execution. The discussion covered several critical issues, including implications for budget utilisation in driving ministry programs, progress in engaging strategic partners for industrial growth, updates on export development programmes, the advancement of the consumer protection policy, breakthroughs in resolving prior-year audit findings, steps being taken to fill vacant posts within the Ministry, and the current progress of relevant bills and legislation.
The Committee Chair, Clemence Chiduwa, lauded Dr. Wushe for his dedication and consistent presence at Portfolio meetings. Hon. Chiduwa emphasised the strong, unified relationship between the legislative and executive bodies, stating that "the Committee and the Ministry are one team pursuing Industrialisation."
He added that the positive nature of the engagement indicates a smooth working relationship between the Ministry and Parliament as they collectively pursue policies aimed at fostering sustained economic growth and stability in the industry and commerce sector.
