Caledonia Mining Corporation Plc has confirmed the death of an employee following an accident at its Blanket Mine in Zimbabwe on September 22.

In a statement released on Tuesday, the company said the incident occurred during secondary blasting operations. The miner, whose name has not yet been released, died as a result of the accident.
Caledonia expressed regret over the incident, noting that its immediate priority is to ensure the safety and well-being of workers at the mine. The company also stated that a thorough investigation into the circumstances of the accident will be carried out.
Further details are expected to be released once enquiries by the relevant authorities are complete.
Caledonia Mining Corporation Plc is listed on the NYSE American, AIM, and the Victoria Falls Stock Exchange. The Blanket Mine, located in Gwanda, is the company’s flagship gold mining operation in Zimbabwe.
