A Waterfalls car dealer, Benedict Makore ,48, is in the spotlight after allegedly swindling a client of US$23 000 in a failed vehicle import deal.
In May 2024, Vania Tendai Ruzivo Magandi approached Makore to help her import a Mercedes-Benz E350 BlueTEC. Having previously bought a car from him, she trusted he could deliver.
Makore reportedly convinced her to hand over her Mercedes-Benz E-Class, registration AGA 0572, valued at US$10 000, as part payment.
She also paid US$13 000 in cash to cover the balance.
He promised to deliver the new vehicle within two months, but the car never arrived. Instead, he allegedly gave excuses before becoming evasive.
With no car and no refund, Magandi reported the matter. The total loss stands at US$23 000, and nothing has been recovered.
Investigations into the case are still underway.
