Journalist Hope Chizuzu has been reported to the police under the Post and Telecommunications Act following allegations that he used his social media account to post defamatory content against cricket administrator Dumisani  Mankunzini .

According to a police report filed at ZRP Tshabalala on 25 August 2025,   Mankunzini  accused Chizuzu of repeatedly posting derogatory messages about him on his X (formerly Twitter) account. The complaint, logged under a CR reference at Tshabalala Police Station, cites several incidents between 21 and 25 August.

Mankunzini 35, who is employed as a National Development Manager at Cricket Ekaya-Ekasi, alleged that Chizuzu’s posts portrayed him in a negative light. In his signed statement to the police, he pointed to three specific posts:

  • A 21 August post suggesting there were “plots and subplots” to destabilise the cricket club, likening him and his associates to “proverbial F12 bombers waiting to destroy leadership.”
  • A 22 August post titled “Boss in turmoil, members don’t defect.”
  • A 25 August post asking, “Is it boys or soup for men?”

Mankunzini argued that the comments were defamatory and damaging to his reputation. “The accused had no right to act in that manner, writing such articles about me,” he stated in his affidavit.

Police documents indicate that the complaint was formally received by Sergeant Sithole at 18:30 hours on 25 August.

The matter is now under investigation, with Chizuzu listed as the accused.
