Three men from Mbare have been arrested for allegedly stealing valuables from unsuspecting passengers using a hired vehicle disguised as a mushikashika.
Takudzwa Makombe ,30, Ian Chakawarika, 25, and Kudzai Magilasi , 27,appeared before the Harare Magistrates’ Court facing theft charges. They are expected to return to court on June 27.
According to the State, between May 21 and June 11, the accused hired a blue Toyota Sienta, registration AGN 9048, with the intent of using it to commit theft.
The trio allegedly operated the vehicle as an unregistered taxi service (mushikashika), during which they stole cellphones and laptops from unsuspecting commuters.
They were later found in possession of the stolen property, which is valued at US$2,300.
