Eight Victims Identified in Sebakwe River Horror Crash

The Zimbabwe Republic Police has released the names of eight victims who perished in a fatal road traffic accident along the Harare-Bulawayo Road near Sebakwe River on May 27, 2025.

The crash, which occurred at the 200-kilometre peg, claimed twelve lives in total.

ZRP confirmed the identities of the deceased as provided by their next of kin. The victims include both male and female adults from various parts of Kwekwe and surrounding areas.

Police spokesperson Commissioner Paul Nyathi said, “The Zimbabwe Republic Police has identified eight of the twelve victims who tragically lost their lives in the Kwekwe accident. Their names have been released following confirmation by their families.”

Among the deceased are James Ncube (23) of Sherwood, Marvellous Mapanzure (20) and Joshua Muza (35) of Indarama Mine, Emilly Mpofu Mucheuki (25) of Sherwood, Reward Nyatsongo (28) of Marivel, Farai Bisendi (47) and Maria Jasi (43) of Mbizo 16, and Emmanuel Mangomana (21) of Kwekwe.

The statement continued,  “The bodies of four female victims are yet to be identified, and we urge members of the public who may have missing relatives to urgently contact ZRP Kwekwe District.”
