EcoCash Holdings Zimbabwe Limited is set to change its name to TN CyberTech Investments Holdings Limited, marking a broader shift in its ownership and strategic direction.
The company will seek shareholder approval for the name change at an Extraordinary General Meeting (scheduled for Friday, June 13, 2025. If approved, the new name will take effect on July 23, 2025, when trading under TN CyberTech begins on the Zimbabwe Stock Exchange.
This development follows a 2024 restructuring in which EcoCash Holdings transferred all its financial technology businesses—including EcoCash (Pvt) Ltd and VAYA Technologies—back to Econet Wireless Zimbabwe. The company now retains Steward Bank as its only subsidiary.
“The proposed name change reflects our new focus and ownership structure,” the company said. “It also eliminates confusion with EcoCash (Pvt) Ltd, which is now under Econet.”
The new name pays tribute to Group CEO Tawanda Nyambirai, whose initials “TN” are featured in the title. Nyambirai is known for founding TN Bank, which later became Steward Bank.
“It is not unusual for banks to carry the names of their founders,” the company stated. “We want to draw from Mr. Nyambirai’s legacy of innovation and industry.”
The term “CyberTech” underscores the company’s ambition to expand its digital banking footprint. Planned developments include unmanned branches, virtual cards, remote customer verification, and community-based banking that enables undocumented individuals to access services through trusted intermediaries.
“Our goal is to become Zimbabwe’s leading cyber technology platform,” the company said. “We aim to deliver banking services to people wherever they are—without limits on time or location.”
The name change will not affect shareholder rights or day-to-day operations. Existing share certificates will remain valid, and shareholders will be notified once the transition is complete.
Board Chairperson Dr. Titus Murefu said the rebrand reflects the company’s evolving vision. “We believe this change better aligns with our mission and future growth,” he said.
