The Grain Marketing Board announced yesterday that it received US$5 million and ZWG$15 million this week for wheat payments.
This brings the total amount paid to farmers for wheat deliveries to US$28 million and ZW$230 million.

GMB said the funds were made available through support from the Treasury to assist farmers as they prepare for the winter wheat season.

“The Board greatly appreciates all the efforts being put in place by Treasury to mobilise resources as farmers prepare for the winter wheat cropping season,” said GMB Chief Executive Officer Dr Edson Badarai.

GMB also thanked farmers for their hard work.
“GMB greatly appreciates the resilience, undoubted commitment, and dedication of our farmers as the country drives towards wheat-based food self-sufficiency,” said Dr Badarai.

He added that for any clarification, the public is encouraged to contact the GMB Corporate Communications Department.

The GMB said it will continue working with farmers and the government to improve food security.
