The National Prosecuting Authority of Zimbabwe has reported that 13,623 criminal cases were concluded during the first quarter of 2025 across eight provinces.
According to internal statistics obtained from the NPAZ, Manicaland recorded the highest number of completed cases at 3,094, followed by Mashonaland West with 3,094 and Midlands with 2,345.
Bulawayo Province completed 1,710 cases, Mashonaland Central recorded 2,119, Mashonaland East had 1,717, Matabeleland South completed 1,872, while Matabeleland North concluded 764 cases.
The NPAZ is also currently handling a backlog of 26,401 active cases, most of which are still before the courts.
Mashonaland Central leads with 4,730 cases, followed by Bulawayo with 3,749, Mashonaland West with 3,695, Manicaland with 3,467, and Midlands with 3,268. Matabeleland South has 2,576 active cases, Mashonaland East has 2,076, and Matabeleland North has 1,130.
In addition, a total of 6,888 cases remain pending, awaiting trial, further investigation, or administrative processing.
Mashonaland Central tops the list of pending cases with 2,611, followed by Bulawayo with 2,039, Midlands with 923, Matabeleland South with 704, Mashonaland West with 609, Manicaland with 373, Mashonaland East with 359, and Matabeleland North with 346.
