Self-exiled former Zimbabwe Republic Police Commissioner Augustine Chihuri has written a letter of apology to Zanu PF.
Chihuri together with former Manicaland Provincial Affairs Minister Mandi Chimene said that they will no longer associate themselves with anything against Zanu PF and the government.
This comes as former Cabinet ministers, who were key members of the Generation 40 (G40) faction at the height of succession battles on who would replace the late Robert Mugabe, Jonathan Moyo and Patrick Zhuwao, wrote a letter of apology, citing their association with a #Zanu PFMustGo campaign.
Chihuri and Chimene, who have been residing in exile, pleaded with Zanu PF Secretary for Administration Obert Mpofu to consider their apology and table the letter of apology to the Zanu PF leadership.

“It is with grave regret and shame that we pen this letter to you, as we have seen the error of our ways, we would like to put it on public record that between June to November 2017, we aligned ourselves with the architects of the #NgwenaMustGo that sought to falsely lay criminal charges against Vice President, now President Mnangagwa and some senior members of the Zanu PF party who were said to be authors of the in-house fighting in the party under the so-called Lacoste Party,” reads part of the letter.
Chihuri and Chimene say that they have seen the light now.
“To err is human, and we have seen the light. Having reflected on the events leading to November 2017, we seek to apologise to the presidium, the party, and the nation at large, we therefore kindly request Cde Obert Mpofu sir to accept our letter of apology and table it before the party leadership, Cde Sir, we also seek re-admittance into the party, a party that represents the people and has love for the people,” the duo added.
Unlike Moyo and Zhuwao and now Chuhuri and Chimene, some members of G40 such as former Minister of Youth and Indigenisation Minister Saviour Kasukuwere have not done so, with Kasukuwere vowing never to but announcing that he will contest for the presidency in 2023.
