A man from Esigodini fatally stabbed his girlfriend after she received US$5 from another man, whom he suspected of having an affair with her.
Mlungisi Vundla, 49, appeared before Esigodini magistrate Menelisi Linda facing a murder charge.
After the gruesome act, Vundla kept the deceased’s body in the house for two days and tried to commit suicide by drinking a pesticide on the third day before seeking help from a neighbour.

Vundla was not asked to plead and was remanded in custody to December 12.
For the State, Nokukhanya Moyo said Vundla allegedly killed Sithokozile Sibanda, 39, on November 7.
“On 7 November, Vundla had a misunderstanding with his girlfriend after she had received money from another man which she wanted to use as bus fare. This resulted in a misunderstanding and the accused person stabbed the now-deceased with a sharp object in the stomach and she died,” she said.
The matter was brought to light when he approached a neighbour for help. Vundla was taken to the United Bulawayo Hospitals (UBH) for treatment.
