The stage is set for Zimbabwe to assume the reins of leadership for the Southern African Development Community as the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Trade welcomes the third and final SADC Technical Assessment Team.
Arriving today, July 17th, 2024, and scheduled to depart on July 23rd, the mission will assess the progress made in preparation for the upcoming SADC Summit slated for August 8th to 18th in Harare, Zimbabwe.
Spokesperson Chiwonesa Mukura, in an official statement, highlighted that the Assessment Team will engage with various technical
committees responsible for the Summit's smooth running. Their primary focus will be finalizing logistical arrangements and addressing any outstanding issues.
The team's visit extends beyond the Summit itself. They will also receive updates on Zimbabwe's preparedness to host the SADC Industrialisation Week, scheduled for July 28th to August 2nd, 2024, at the Harare International Conference Centre.
The Zimbabwean government has pledged its unwavering commitment to collaborating closely with the SADC Secretariat. Their collaborative efforts aim to ensure all preparatory works are finalized on time, guaranteeing a successful Summit.
