
Justice sector institutions and anti-corruption agencies have convened in Bulawayo for a high-level engagement aimed at strengthening collaboration, improving corruption case management and enhancing the recovery of assets linked to corruption-related offences.
The meeting, organised by Transparency International Zimbabwe under the Strengthening Anti-Corruption Frameworks for Responsive and Accountable Governance in Zimbabwe Programme, brings together key institutions involved in the investigation, prosecution and prevention of corruption.
“Transparency International Zimbabwe, through the Strengthening Anti-Corruption Frameworks for Responsive and Accountable Governance in Zimbabwe Programme, is holding a follow-up provincial engagement meeting in Bulawayo aimed at strengthening collaboration among justice sector and anti-corruption institutions,” the organisation said.
The engagement follows a series of capacity-building workshops conducted over recent years to improve institutional capabilities in handling corruption cases.
“The engagement builds on capacity-building workshops conducted over the years to strengthen skills in investigation, prosecution, and asset recovery of corruption-related offences.”

According to TIZ, the meeting provides an opportunity for participating institutions to evaluate current systems and identify areas requiring greater cooperation.
“The meeting provides a platform for institutions to assess corruption case handling mechanisms, strengthen coordination at the station level, and identify opportunities for resource sharing and expertise exchange.”
The dialogue comes as Zimbabwe continues to strengthen institutional mechanisms aimed at combating corruption, a challenge that authorities, civil society organisations and development partners have identified as a major impediment to economic development, public service delivery and investor confidence.
Asset recovery has increasingly emerged as a key component of anti-corruption efforts globally, with experts arguing that successful prosecution alone is often insufficient without mechanisms to trace, seize and recover proceeds derived from corrupt activities.
TIZ said sustained cooperation among institutions remains critical to improving accountability and strengthening the country's anti-corruption architecture.
“Through sustained collaboration and institutional coordination, Zimbabwe can strengthen accountability and improve the fight against corruption.”
