A 46-year-old Chitungwiza woman has appeared in court facing fraud charges after allegedly swindling 17 home seekers of more than US$95,000 in a bogus residential stands scheme that ran for six years.
Natasha Rangarirai Mutambirwa appeared before Harare Magistrate Ruth Moyo on allegations that she masterminded a fake housing project purporting to offer low-cost residential stands through a non-existent trust.
She was released on US$200 bail pending trial.
Prosecutor Lawrence Gangarahwe told the court that between 2019 and 2025, Mutambirwa, acting in concert with accomplices Tawanda Zeze, Hazel Tanyanyiwa, Emily Jiri, and Gladys Jiri — who are still at large — created a fraudulent entity called More Than Conquerors Trust.
The accused allegedly claimed the Trust was backed by donors who would cover 85 percent of the purchase price, leaving buyers to pay just 15 percent.

Victims were reportedly invited to Mutambirwa’s offices at Joina City in Harare, where they paid a US$200 non-refundable joining fee.
Believing they were securing genuine housing opportunities, the complainants went on to make further payments totaling US$95,545.
However, no residential stands were ever delivered.
According to the State, after collecting the money, Mutambirwa and her accomplices failed to provide property or refunds. Repeated follow-ups by the victims were ignored, prompting a police report and her subsequent arrest.
No funds have been recovered to date.
The matter remains under investigation, and authorities are still pursuing the other suspects who are on the run.
