The Zimbabwe Football Association has named a provisional 30-member Mighty Warriors squad for a revised three-nation women’s football tournament to be held in Malawi.
The competition, initially planned as a larger event at Bingu National Stadium in Lilongwe, has been restructured to feature Zimbabwe, Malawi and Zambia.
In a statement, ZIFA said: “The change follows adjustments to the initial tournament format communicated by the organisers. Despite this modification, the Mighty Warriors remain fully focused on their preparations and are looking forward to competing strongly against two of the region’s top sides.”
Head coach Sithethelelwe Sibanda and her technical team have already begun preparations in Harare, where the squad is currently in camp. The 30-player list will be trimmed to 23 before the team departs for Lilongwe. ZIFA said the final squad and tournament schedule will be announced in due course.
