ActionAid Zimbabwe, in partnership with the Health Education and Food Organization, this week held a key stakeholders’ engagement meeting in Nkayi District to mark the official phase-out of its Local Rights Programmes.
The event brought together local leaders, community-based organizations, and government representatives from ward to district level, focusing on reviewing the programme’s impact and designing a sustainability roadmap to preserve gains made under the initiative.
ActionAid Zimbabwe said the phase-out meeting aimed to ensure that communities remain empowered and that developmental projects continue independently beyond the organization’s direct involvement.

The LRP, implemented in partnership with HEFO, has over the years supported various interventions in Nkayi, including promoting women’s empowerment, strengthening food security, enhancing local governance, and improving access to health and education services.
HEFO representatives highlighted that although the formal phase of the LRP has ended, the partnership’s impact will endure through the skills and institutions strengthened over the years.
