Two men have appeared in court facing charges of unlawful entry into premises with aggravating circumstances after allegedly breaking into a church and stealing sound equipment worth US$2 000.

Malvin Tembo ,26, and Booker Razerera ,29, both of Chitungwiza, appeared before Harare magistrate Tapiwa Kuhudzai. Tembo is unemployed, while Razerera works as a security guard for Real Star Security.

The two were remanded in custody.

The complainant is Albert Karengenu.

Prosecutor Nomsa Kangara told the court that on August 3, at around 1400 hours, the complainant closed his church at Eastgate, Corner Second Street and Robert Mugabe Road, locking all doors and windows after service.

During his absence, the accused, together with two accomplices still at large, allegedly used a sharp object to force open the main door before entering the church. Once inside, they stole a Berlinger R18 sound mixer and a crossover unit.

The complainant discovered the offence the following day and reported the matter to ZRP Harare Central.

Investigations led to the arrest of Tembo, who implicated Razerera and the two outstanding suspects.

Police later recovered the stolen Berlinger R18 sound mixer and crossover, which Karengenu identified as his property. The stolen equipment was valued at US$2 000.
