While star striker Tymon Machope has been grabbing headlines with his goal-scoring heroics, Scottland FC coach Tonderai Ndiraya believes the team's Premier Soccer League title charge is also being powered by the timely contributions of midfielder Moses Shidolo. The new midseason signing's impressive performances have given the league newcomers a crucial edge as they battle for a historic championship.
Shidolo has been a vital addition to the squad, bringing a new dimension to the midfield and contributing significantly to the team's recent successes. His impactful performances have not gone unnoticed by Coach Ndiraya, who emphasized the importance of squad depth in a challenging title race.
"Depth is really going to be very key for us going forward. When we lose players, we can easily replace them," Ndiraya said, citing Shidolo as a prime example of a player who has stepped up and delivered.
Shidolo’s arrival has been perfectly timed, providing the team with much-needed reinforcement. His presence was particularly felt in the recent 2-1 victory over ZPC Kariba at Rufaro, a game where the team was without key players Albert Manenji, Kingsley Mureremba, and the injured Walter Musona. Despite these absences, Shidolo and his teammates delivered a strong performance, briefly putting Scottland FC on top of the log standings.
Scottland FC now sits in second place with 49 points from 25 matches, just one point behind defending champions Simba Bhora. With nine league matches remaining, the team is aiming for a historic achievement: winning the league title in their debut season, a feat last accomplished by the Black Rhinos in 1984.
