The Zimbabwe Football Association (ZIFA) suspended referee Rusununguko Mutero from officiating in the Castle Lager Premier Soccer League for six matchdays, following concerns over his performance.

In a statement,ZIFA confirmed that Mutero’s suspension will span from matchday 24 to matchday 29 of the ongoing 2025 season.

“Referee Rusununguko Mutero has been suspended from officiating in the Castle Lager Premier Soccer League  for a period of six  match days, covering matchday 24 to matchday 29 of the 2025 season,” the association said.

The decision comes after Mutero’s handling of the PSL clash between Green Fuel FC and FC Platinum on July 26, 2025, at Green Fuel Arena. According to ZIFA, a Match Commissioner’s report concluded that Mutero’s officiating did not meet the required standards.

“The Match Commissioner’s report highlighted that  Mutero’s officiating fell short of the required standards, thereby constituting a breach of paragraph 21 of the Referees’ Code of Conduct,” ZIFA explained.
