The Zimbabwe Universities Sports Association Cluster 1 Games are currently underway in Harare, running from April 30 to May 4, 2025.

Hosted by the Harare Institute of Technology, this year’s tournament is held under the theme “University Sport, Developing Drug-Free Champions!!”

The event has brought together student-athletes from more than 20 universities nationwide to compete in athletics, football, cricket, darts, table tennis, and Paralympic events—all with an emphasis on discipline, unity, and healthy living.

Sporting events are taking place across multiple venues in the capital: athletics at the University of Zimbabwe; men’s and women’s cricket at Sunrise Sports Club and Alex Sports Club, respectively; and football matches at Belvedere Technical Teachers College and HIT. All indoor sports are being hosted at HIT.

ZUSA President Guvuriro expressed pride in the association’s progress and the enthusiasm shown by participants. “This year has been marked by remarkable achievements, unwavering dedication, and a spirit of unity that continues to define us,” he said.

“We look forward to witnessing personal bests shattered, new records set, and, most importantly, the growth of sportsmanship and camaraderie.”

Beyond the thrill of competition, the ZUSA Games serve as a vital platform for talent development and fostering the values of fair play and clean sport. The strong anti-drug message at the heart of this year’s games underscores the role of university sport in shaping focused, responsible, and determined young leaders.

The games will conclude on May 4, 2025, after several days of energetic and inspiring performances.
