Award-winning Zimdancehall producer T man of Mt Zion has called for artistes to pay for studio time when they visit various studios dotted around the country.

T man told artists that producers survive through the work and time they spend in studios and artist should appreciate that.

T Man said that some producers cannot speak out because they fear that these artists will not come back to record at their studios for free.

“It’s time for Zimdancehall artists to start paying for their studio time.”

He says: “Producer munhuwo anodawo kurarama Vari kutambura maproducer mazhinji kunze uku kutya havo kutaura vachiti pamwe hamuzoende kunorekodhako mahara futi. (A producer is also a human being who needs to survive. They are struggling out there but keep quiet because they are afraid you won’t go back to their studios to record for free),” he wrote on his Facebook page.

Most Zimdancehall studios started as backyard studios as most producers were doing the recordings out of passion, but the Zimdancehall industry has evolved, and it comes as a form of employment for most young people.
