Upcoming South Africa-based Zimbabwean musician, Chris Million Masocha has said promoters in this country must not wait for artistes to grow big before taking them on but help them during their rise.
Speaking to Zim Now, Masocha said promoters must not shun upcoming artistes.
“The problem is that most promoters are not prepared to work with artistes who are not yet established because they feel they are costly.
Today, getting recorded is very difficult if you are not financially liquid," said the Tanha Dzaunosvikira hitmaker.
Masocha said that his latest album, Naiwa Uchifamba - a seven-track project - explores the situation in the country1 and warns that people must not wait for anything but start on what they intend to do because they may never realised their dreams if they decide to procrastinate.
"The songs on the album teach people on living and survival as well as urging people to work. There is no reason to wait. Some say things are difficult, I would rather wait until the situation improves but it may never get better. No, go ahead, don't wait," said the singer, who says he is not rigid in terms of style, straddling Afrofusion and Afrojazz among other beats.
He said Naiwa Uchifamba is just a title that looks at the general message of the songs on the album and there is no song with that title on the seven-track project.
Masocha, who also runs salons in Port Elizabeth, has also done Muri Huchi (2017), Tanha Dzaunosvikira (2019) and ChaSatani Hachidyiwe Mahara (2021).
He is set to release a single Mhanduwe Musadaro this week, which essentially talks about relationships and the several challenges men and women encounter in these.
"I'm also working on a six-track album, wherein Mhanduwe Musadaro will be incorporated, scheduled for release in the first week of June," said the musician, adding that artistes should help each other rise.
