Chipaz Promotions director Partson Chimbodza has said he is not competing with Wallace Chirimuuko, a.k.a Winky D.
Chipaz, as Chimbodza is popularly known, is the one who is organising the Seh Calaz album launch on December 31, the same day that Winky is also launching an album.
Dismissing ascertions of enmity, Chipaz highlighted that the two gigs appealed to different crowds and as such Chipaz Promotions aim for a different market from that of Winky D.
“There are people who can’t afford to pay $20 for Winky D’s show. That is the market we are targeting for at the City Sports Centre.
“This is not about competition but complementing each other, it’s all dancehall but the two gigs attract different fans according to their budgets,” said the veteran promoter.
Seh Calaz will be launching his album, Reggae Dzinorira, on December 31 at the City Sports Centre while Winky will be ushering his on the same day at the Harare International Conference Centre (HICC). The two venues are a stone’s throw away from one another.
Seh Calaz who has already released a sample of a song titled Yako Handibate on his Facebook page.
He will be supported by a number of Zimdancehall artists who include Guspy Warrior, Dhadza D, Kinnah, Silent Killer, Bazooka, Blot, Doba Don and Uncle Eptan.
Tickets for his show are selling for US$5. On the other hand, Winky will be curtain-raised by Killer T, Tocky Vibes, Enzo Ishall, Holy Ten and Saint Flow. Gate entry fee is US$20 for a standard ticket and US$40 for VIP.
