Zimdancehall end-of-year awards organiser Blexs Gyver has ddistanced himself from the fake dancehall awards certificates circulating on social media.
Gyver said they had nothing to do with the issuance of the certificates and the scam was being done by people who are trying to mimic what they have achieved.
“To all the Zimdancehall stakeholders, we would like to make it clear that we are not part of the issued certificates circulating on social media that have to do with Zimdancehall Awards.
“We feel and understand the disappointment and disrespect to the hardworking people who have contributed immensely to the movement/genre.
“In no way do we celebrate and appreciate our artists, MCs, DJs, promoters and even the fans and our fallen heroes in this manner. We feel this is a mockery to the culture of great Legends.
“As you all know, at Zimdancehall End of Year Awards, we first release the nominees and people start to vote for the winners thereafter. We don’t just dish out awards clandestinely through the backdoor,” Gyver said.
The organiser also said Zimdancehall is open for everyone and there is need to build the industry in a better way and not bring shame and mockery to the genre.
Nominees for this year’s edition will be released on December 28, 2022 followed by the awards ceremony to be held in February. The date and venue are yet to be announced.
The awards ceremony will be running under the theme “Uplifting ghetto youths is a must, together we rise”, which was inspired by the need to create more visibility and investor interest.
