African Son Takes TikTok by Storm with Viral Hit “Mazuvano”

Emerging artist Trycolin Nyahunzvi, better known by his stage name African Son, is steadily becoming a household name in Zimbabwe’s music scene. 

The Mabvuku-New Tafara resident, originally from Murewa, has been carving his path in the industry for the past four years, and his hard work is starting to pay off.

“I started my musical journey from a place of passion and purpose,” African Son said in a recent interview. 

“I grew up in Murewa, went to Maruta Primary and later Chemhondoro High School. Music has always been part of me, and now I’m fully committed to taking it to the next level.”

African Son has collaborated with notable names in Zimbabwean music, including Uncle Epaton on Zvinokonerwa Nei, Kabhida on Kumberi, and Ruvarashe on Ndoda Iwewe. 

His sound blends raw street energy with heartfelt storytelling, drawing inspiration from artists like Blot and receiving support from industry figure Sir Blitz.

Currently working closely with producers Kaptain Ka Jonz and Rass Niggah, African Son remains an independent artist but is actively seeking sponsorship and management to elevate his craft. 

“I’m not signed to any record label yet, and that has its challenges,” he admitted. “Financially it can be tough, but I’m determined to keep pushing and to work with more producers who believe in my vision.”

His latest release, “Mazuvano”, has been making waves on TikTok, with users creating dance challenges and lip-sync videos to the catchy track. This online buzz is helping him gain recognition beyond his local community and proving that his music resonates with a wider audience.

“I want my music to inspire young people, to tell their stories, and to show them that no matter where you come from, you can still dream big,” African Son said.
