Nestlé Zimbabwe has scaled up production of its flagship breakfast cereal, CEREVITA, following a US$7 million investment aimed at expanding local manufacturing to meet growing demand.
The company has increased production capacity by more than 35% after commissioning its new Roller Drier 4, allowing for greater product availability across the country while maintaining high standards of safety, quality, and consistency.
CEREVITA, known for its signature toasted flavour and wholegrain nutritional value, is now produced in five variants, including corn and wheat, corn and banana, cocoa and malt, flakes with milk, and corn and sorghum. It comes in 500g and 750g packaging options.
“This investment is not just about production infrastructure it’s about long-term nourishment, empowerment, and pride in a product that reflects our local taste, our local grain, and our local spirit,” said Nicole Roos, Nestlé East and Southern Africa Region Managing Director and Chairperson.
Nestlé Managing Director for East Africa and the Greater Zambezi, Khaled Ramadan, added that CEREVITA’s composition of whole grains, fortified with GRAINSMART™ a combination of iron, vitamins, and minerals makes it ideal for a nutritious start to the day for families.
The cereal is also being exported to neighbouring markets such as Zambia, Malawi, and Mozambique, further establishing Zimbabwe as a breakfast cereal leader in the region.
Nestlé Zimbabwe said the investment aligns with its “Virtuous Circle” model, which promotes local sourcing and inclusive growth. The company partners with over 350 local suppliers and 18 farmers, supports 149 full-time staff and 268 casual workers, and trains eight graduate trainees annually.
