The Midlands Province Minister of State for Provincial Affairs and Devolution, Owen Ncube, led a diplomatic delegation on a tour of Dendairy Farm in Kwekwe yesterday, as Zimbabwe continues to pursue strategic partnerships in agriculture under its engagement and re-engagement drive.
The delegation included senior government officials and the Ambassador of Nicaragua to Zimbabwe, Nadeska Cuthbert, who visited the facility to explore opportunities for bilateral cooperation in the dairy value chain.
Dendairy, one of Zimbabwe’s leading dairy producers, was commended for its innovation and contributions to national food security.
Speaking during the tour, Minister Ncube said the Midlands Province contributes 22% of Zimbabwe’s raw milk output, based on 2024 figures.
“Dendairy is a shining example of what Zimbabwe can achieve through investment, innovation, and strong partnerships,” said Ncube.
“This visit is part of our broader push to strengthen bilateral ties through practical and productive engagements.”
Ambassador Cuthbert praised Zimbabwe’s resilience and progress in the agricultural sector, highlighting areas of mutual interest such as breed improvement, livestock health management, feed systems, and cold chain infrastructure.
“We are impressed by the level of innovation here,” she said. “There is great potential for collaboration between our countries, built on shared agricultural goals and knowledge exchange.”
The visit underscored Zimbabwe’s commitment to food security and its intent to deepen international cooperation in key sectors.
Zimbabwe positions agriculture as a driver of economic growth, partnerships like this are seen as critical to achieving sustainability and self-reliance.
