Zimbabwe ‘A’ posted a competitive total of 241 runs in their opening one-day match against Scotland XI at Harare Sports Club, thanks to a composed top-order effort and late resistance from the lower order.

After being sent in to bat, Zimbabwe ‘A’ built a strong platform with Takudzwanashe Kaitano anchoring the innings with a well-crafted half-century—his 10th in List A cricket. His calm presence at the crease provided the home side with early momentum.

Despite a middle-order wobble, the team stabilized in the final stretch. Tony Munyonga’s unbeaten 23 and Brandon Senzere’s gritty 5 not out saw the team recover from 190/6 with 10 overs remaining, steering Zimbabwe ‘A’ to a respectable finish.

Brandon Senzere, widely regarded for his all-round potential, is expected to play a key role with the ball. Fans took to social media to show their support, with one user, Shahil Sami, calling on selectors to give Senzere more international opportunities: "Bowling attack: Senzere, Ngarava and Muzarabani—kindly request gives chance."

Zimbabwe’s bowling line-up, combining pace threats like Blessing Muzarabani and Richard Ngarava with emerging talent like Senzere, will now look to defend their total against a determined Scotland XI.

The stage is set for an engaging second half as Zimbabwe ‘A’ aims to draw first blood in the series.
